What are the switch positions on a FasTrak Flex and FasTrak CAV toll tag for?

The toll tag switch positions are used to tell the toll system the number of occupants in the vehicle, so the correct toll amount is collected. The switch positions also assist with California Highway Patrol (CHP) enforcement of express lane use. Remember to set the switch prior to starting your trip.

FasTrak Flex

Express Lanes
Set the switch to match the number of occupants in the vehicle (motorcycles and 2-seater vehicles carrying 2 people should set the switch to position 3+). FasTrak will apply the appropriate discount based on the express lane operators policies and highlight your discounted status to CHP for proper enforcement.

Toll Bridges and Parking Garages
Regardless of which position the toll tag is switched to, the system will deduct the full toll from your account. At all toll bridges, you must use the designated carpool lanes to receive discounted carpool rates.

On the Golden Gate Bridge, clean air vehicles are not eligible for reduced tolls and may not use carpool lanes unless they meet the minimum passenger requirements for carpools.

Note that eligibility for clean air vehicle discounts will automatically expire when your clean air decal expires.
