All vehicles, including carpools, motorcycles, and other eligible vehicles must have a valid FasTrak account to travel in all Bay Area Express Lanes (be sure to add your license plate number to your FasTrak account). To receive toll discounts, eligible vehicles must have a FasTrak Flex or FasTrak CAV toll tag set to the proper position inside the vehicle.
Solo drivers in eligible clean air vehicles do not qualify as a carpool in Bay Area Express Lanes and must pay a toll. To receive a discounted toll, you must use a FasTrak CAV toll tag. Single-occupant vehicles using a FasTrak Flex or FasTrak CAV set in position 2 or 3+ may be cited by CHP.
